Hark!!!!!!!!!!!!
Whenever he speaks, he lies.
Whenever he promises, he breaks his promise.
Whenever he is trusted, he betrays the trust.
Ahhh, he’s a hypocrite!!!!!!!!
Liar, Promise breaker, betrayer of one’s trust…. hypocrites
So what do you think? Are we HYPOCRITES too??????????????? Is this land from where I am sharing my views freely and without restraint  an abode of hypocrites?
Let me tell you …
No we are not a nation of hypocrites.
69 years ago ,two nations were born. They opened their eyes and stared into the horizon of possibilities. Now 69 years later, one is a failed democracy and the other baffles the world because it is surging ahead at full speed towards progress, development and Gross National Happiness. Ladies and Gentlemen…that nation which is still going strong despite the challenges and struggles, as you all know , is  INDIA. Well, I guess it is quite a feat for a society of hypocrites to attain 69 years of sustainable growth and development. Well I guess if we are a nation of hypocrites ,then definitely this is a world record. A society of liars, promise breakers and betrayers..how could they collectively run this race successfully for decades ? I wonder.
I just read somewhere, hypocrites are those people who make laws and don’t follow them. In that case, SUPREME COURT, our country’s highest LAW GIVING INSTITUTION should’ve failed. Is that so??????? Then WHY are more and more people approaching all the 3 courts -Session, high and supreme court fully believing and trusting that they WILL GET JUSTICE!!!!!!! Well, promise breakers and betrayers are definitely not just!  Is JUSTICE the characteristic of a hypocritical nation??
Yes, there have been dowry deaths and yes there are laws in place to punish the perpetrators and many are languishing in Indian prisons- Politicians, businessmen, high and mighty, along with gangsters, dons and petty thieves. If we were a nation full of hypocrites then our prisons would’ve been empty!!! No, No don’t get me wrong on this point. Surely a full prison is certainly not a measure of hypocrisy. But, what I meant to say was that JUSTICE is not a virtue of hypocrites!!!!
Our countrymen sleep well because of the innumerable sacrifices of the armed forces. They sacrifice their lives to secure and protect the borders of our country. Despite the power, army has never tried to attempt a coup!!!They believe in the constitution and have strived to follow the ethos of a democratic state. Oh just look around…Burma ,  Chile, Pakistan, middle eastern countries all of them have experienced the aches and pains of the military coup. But India still stands tall as the world’s largest and successful democracy. Surely that is not a sign of a hypocritical nation!!!
India is a unique nation. There is diversity everywhere the type of clothes we wear, our cuisine, the way we talk, our language, and everything. And when people with such diverse backgrounds meet and live together, they surely have different opinions. So would you people term this diversity in India as hypocrisy???
India is a nation which stays true to its words. She never breaks her promises!!!! India promised to help all the refugees from Bangladesh, Tibet, and different places and has always kept its promise that is WHY WHENEVER THERE IS A WAR ON TERROR/ANY CONFLICT OR DISPUTE IN A COUNTRY THE INHABITANTS OF THAT COUNTRY COME RUNING TO INDIA FOR HELP AS THEY BELIEVE IN US AND TRUST US THAT WHATEVER MAY COME WE WILL HELP THEM!!!!!!!!!!! And to keep its promise is not AT all the characteristic of a hypocrytic nation!!!!!!
Many MULTINATIONAL COMPANIES are opening their shops in India because they trust us, they believe in us and find us to be reliable!! Thanks to our present Prime Minister  many more multinational companies many more are coming to India. Surely, a country full of betrayers would not be an attractive option for them!!
If we Indians say that WE MUST RESPECT OUR ELDERS, we do respect our elders and that’s why India has very few old age homes because we believe in practicing whatever we preach. As according to Indians to send an elder to an old age home is the worst thing he/she can ever do to an elder and Indians mark it as a symbol of disrespect!!And on top of it people call us hypocrites! Ladies and gentlemen please think it over. How can a hypocrite be PRACTICING WHAT HE/SHE/IT PREACHES!!!
India is a land of GODS and GODESSES. Every nook and corner you find a religious symbol- Mosque, Temple, Gurudwara or a Church. Fear and Respect towards GOD is inculcated in us. And this fear gives us a sense of collective responsibility which makes us walk out into the streets protesting a NIRBHYA DEATH or against corruption. Surely, Hypocrites ARE NOT AT ALL SELFLESS!!!!!!
India is a land of heroes may it be Maryada Purushottam Daashrathi Lord Rama, Righteous Yudhishtra, Enlightened Buddha, Stoic Gandhi, Patriotic and Fervent Bhagat Singh and Subhash Chandra Bose, the Visionary Abdul Kalam, the list is long..Our nation was built on the unconditional love and passion these heroes had for India. It is their sacrifice and their blood which spurred India towards what it is NOW!!! A hypocrytic society will definitely not have such selfless sacrificial legends!!
India the birthplace of many languages and cultures but in its quest to catch up with the fast moving world and there is this perception that she is losing its traditions and moving towards hypocrisy. The above argument arises because of the fact that India is in a confounding situation, it neither wants to turn completely towards its ancient culture nor does it want to turn totally towards the western practices. In that bargain India bangs straight into the wall of hypocrisy. So, what we turn around from the wall too!!!!!!!!! Isn’t injury a part of growing up??? Criticisms are welcome. How will one improve otherwise criticise, pin-point, our faults we want to grow, develop, fly and soar..
But, do not INSULT US  by calling us HYPOCRITES because we are not!!!!!!!!
I would like to thank my English teacher Mrs. Mary S. Samuel for helping me with this editorial, correcting it whenever needed and helping me by giving her own thoughts too!!!
