Not long ago a 11 year old girl was admitted into the hospital. She spent her time looking out the Window and smiling. It was as if the view was beautiful. Although it was just a basketball court. Every night she, just listened to the sound of the beeps. It broke the silence of the cold nights.
When people asked her if she was sad her reply was " a smile can fix a problem ". No one could see her sadness. Her imagination had covered all over her room. Some say she could bring a light into a and room.
Her mask fooled everyone. That was until the day he met her.................
A nurse had come into her room with a boy around her age. He looked at her with bright eyes "wow your so pretty. With your big chocolate coloured brown eyes, small cherry coloured lips and brown hair" he said. " It is to bad you have that fake smile" he added. I laughed "My name is ______ nice to meet you " I say. "My name is Austin nice to meet you" he said with a smile.
His smile lit up the entire room. His smile warmed my heart. I turned and looked out the window. He stared at me continuously. I felt as if I had done something wrong. "Hey, why do you look out the window" he asked. "Because the sky is beautiful " I replied. We played and laughed all day.
The day ended and the sun began to set. It was the first time I had this much fun. Everyone just judged me for how I act. "Bye" He said as he ran down the hall.
The putter patter of his foot steps going down the hall were a break from the silence.
Everyday we played like it was the last days of our lives. He made everything an adventure. Although he was an idiot who looked like a monkey we were best friends. Sometimes he would sneak out of his room and slip into my bed. Those memories were treasures to me.
One night I had I nightmare. So I got out of bed walked down the hall to his room. I slipped into his bed and wrapped my arms around him. He turned around and wrapped his arms around me. He wrapped them around like I was a fragile object that would break easily. " I am going to have a surgery tomorrow . There is a high risk I won't make it" he said. We laid there in the silence with the beeping noise breaking the silence.
We woke up to find each other with our arm wrapped around each other. He got embarrassed and all red. We walked around the hospital causing chaos. Austin seemed kinda out of it though. His surgery was to last about three hours. It was at 12:00pm.
I grabbed his hand and said "You will make it through surgery". He grabbed a piece of paper, put it on his lips and then kissed me. " _____ I like you. I will take my real kiss after my surgery" he said. His hands were shaking and he was scared.
I waited in his room with that piece of paper. It still had,his scent on it. His monkey face went through my head over and over again. The fear of that beeping sound grow stronger.
After three hour they rolled him back in. All of my fears left. I decided to sit by his side until he woke up. I waited by his side for hours.
After twenty-four hours they told me he was in a coma. I sat by him only leaving to use the bathroom. It was days since the surgery. Days, weeks and soon a month passed by. I started to cry. Then suddenly he opened his eyes slowly. He sat up and kissed me. " Told you I would take my kiss after the surgery" he said softly with his regular cheeky smile. "I love you. I love you." I repeated over and over again. " Me too. Now you are finally min-" he stopped mid sentence. Then I heard BEEEP. The long beep and a straight line. "Austin, Austin, AUSTIN WAKE UP please. HELP, SOMEONE CALL A DOCTOR " I yelled through out the hospital. I started to cry "Austin I love you" I said.
The memories of the first day I met him played over.
"My name is Nelly. Nice to meet you" I said "My name is Austin." he said.
I hadn't fallen in love since I met him. All of these memories clogged my brain and train of thoughts. All of these memories taught love does not die easily. It left the girl with a broken heart.
